College Guidance Program
College Guidance at Saint Maur
The College Guidance Program at Saint Maur aims to guide our students on their journey towards post-secondary opportunities. Our comprehensive approach is designed to provide students with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to make informed decisions about their futures.
Our primary goal is to empower students with a deep understanding of various career pathways, university programs, and global educational institutions, ensuring they are well-prepared for life after high school. We recognize the significance of this transitional phase and are committed to helping students pave their way towards their aspirations.
College Counselling in Grade 10
The process of self-discovery and exploration starts in Grade 10 through the use of Unifrog, a specialised management system, to assist students in building profiles that take into account their interests, personality traits, and aptitudes. Through the administration of PSATs, students gain valuable insights into their strengths and aptitudes that may serve as a foundation for their International Baccalaureate (IB) subject selections and preliminary post-secondary plans.
College Counselling in Grade 11
College counselling in Grade 11 is focused towards in-depth exploration and research during the bi-weekly college guidance sessions. During these sessions, students are exposed to different post-secondary opportunities from around the world. This exposure empowers them to make informed decisions about their next steps, while also igniting their curiosity about the opportunities available to them.
College Counselling in Grade 12
In Grade 12, preparation for post-secondary destination is the focus, where students receive guidance throughout the university application process. The bi-weekly guidance sessions continue to play a role in supporting students as they navigate the complex world of applications, deadlines, and requirements. Furthermore, our holistic approach extends to career counselling, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills to create impressive resumes, craft compelling cover letters, and explore diverse career avenues.
Collaborating with the Parent Support Group
An integral component of our College Counselling program is the involvement of our parent community. Through their support, our graduating students are exposed to various career options. This partnership amplifies the resources available to students, making them aware of the multitude of possibilities that await them after graduation.
