Saint Maur’s Middle School Student Council students had the opportunity to visit Yokohama's Futaba School for a day. They discussed the differences and similarities between their schools Futaba and Saint Maur; had a great experience, and a lot of fun. The seven participating students hope this can be an annual event!
Sadly the reign of Queen Elizabeth ll is over. It was only a few days ago when the world saw pictures of a frail but smiling Queen Elizabeth ll welcoming the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, to form a new government, so her sudden death has left the nation in shock.
Did you hear about the 3rd graders making robots that battled each other? Did you know middle school girls were preparing for the upcoming volleyball season in June? Did you catch those new 1st graders eating in the Cougar Café - and with such good manners? Did you see those kids at Peverley Place killing it in their first experience playing field hockey?
On the 11th of November at 11 a.m., the French students attending Saint Maur International School met with the French Embassy of Tokyo at the Yokohama Foreigners Cemetery to commemorate the victims of the First World War.
On May 14th and 15th, we showcased the talents of our wonderful parent community and celebrated their success in our very first Adult Enrichment exhibit. The two day event began with a mellifluous performance by our Mothers' Singing Group, Mama Melodia who performed an array of international songs.
It is with deep regret and sadness that we must inform you of the unexpected and untimely death of Richard Rucci on January 15. He joined our staff in 1992 and retired in 2020. We shall always be indebted to him for the contribution he made to the school in his many roles, and to the numerous students he helped during his long career as an educator in the U.S., Korea and Japan.
The Grade 8 Japanese B class students completed a special project, expressing their appreciation to the cleaning staff at Saint Maur International School.
Another shout out to the Saint Maur parent community, who have organized, baked and helped out at the French Bake Sale last week to raise funds for Tiphaine Veron, a French citizen, who went missing in Nikko last year.
A special thank you goes out to our parent community for organizing a very successful book fair last Wednesday and Thursday!
I would like to thank you all for the welcome you have extended to me. Since I am new to both Saint Maur and Japan, I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to tell you a little about myself. As some of you already know, I am from Northern Ireland in the U.K. As a child my family moved to Kuwait where I was educated. I received my tertiary education at the Ulster University and University of Sunderland and then moved back to Kuwait to begin my teaching career. I spent the last 10 years in Kuwait working as a teacher, middle leader and Senior leader at a Primary School.
On Sunday 11th November 2018, the French school students participated in the 100th Anniversary ceremony at the Yokohama Foreign Cemetery to commemorate the end of World War One (1914-1918), also called "The war to end all wars".
The father of two of our distinguished past students will be awarded a very prestigious award by the Irish President on the 30th November. Mr. Hideki Mimura, the father of Melissa (RIP) and Eleanor has received this award for promoting Ireland here in Japan.
