August 31, 2020 commemorates the birth of Dr. Maria Montessori 150 years ago. Her love of children, the field of medicine and extensive research into her educational approach, has led to the Montessori Method being used for 110 years by teachers around the world.
Last May, the Irish Dance Club received an invitation from the Director of the National Catholic Awareness Conference, Japan to perform at the Nicholas Barre Center in Yotsuya, Tokyo during the event, “In Preparation for Pope Francis’s Visit to Japan, Catholic Awareness Conference of Japan – 2019”.
The 5th Meeting of the Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Conference Preparatory Group for World Radio Conference (WRC-19) (APG19-5) was held between 31 July - 6 August 2019 in Tokyo sponsored by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and supported by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) Association of Japan.

The Eighth Annual O’Keeffe Irish Dance Celebration took place on Thursday, March 21st, 2019 in the Saint Maur Fine Arts Auditorium with the performance of 30 students from Elementary to High School.
This year the Saint Maur Speech Contest team had a remarkably successful day at the annual competition, hosted by Seisen International School on Saturday 17 November 2018. A wonderful atmosphere was created by talented and enthusiastic students competing in a spirit of intensity and friendship. Our overall total was 67 points, placing us second amongst the six competing schools. This was 15 points higher than our third-place finish in 2017, and it also exceeded the 65 points that we scored in 2016 and the 66 points accumulated in 2014 when we tied for second place.
The Lantau Island Irish Dance Feis (Competition) in Hong Kong took place on October 27th, 2018 with the performance of four Saint Maur students: Gr. 4 Aya, Gr. 7 Rio and Rin, and Gr. 9 Anna. In this competition, approximately 100 dancers from Japan, China-Shanghai, Taiwan and Hong Kong performed. Our students challenged their technique, knowledge and experience in different categories bringing home a number of medals and trophies.
On Friday 18 May, Saint Maur's glitterati gathered at Iseyama Hills's Grand Venezia ballroom, in Yokohama, for the annual Junior and Senior Prom.
Monday April 23rd was sure to become an exciting day for twenty-two Montessori and Elementary School students who performed in the 3rd Ballet Club Mini-Spring Recital in the Auditorium. During lunch, the Montessori classroom was transformed to a hair salon where the little ballet performers had their chignon hairstyle done. Just before Period 6 ended, the Elementary School students headed to the Auditorium Dressing Room and joined the Montessori’s transformation to graceful and stylish ballet dancers.
April 14th was the annual RoboSumo Challenge competition at Saint Maur International School. This event is available to middle and elementary students across the Kanto area and offers an opportunity for students to collaborate and share their passion for robotics.
The 48th World Irish Dancing Championships took place on March 24th - April 1st, 2018 at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The event was organised by An Aoimisiúm le Rincí Gaelacha with more than 5,000 competitors. This event is considered the “Olympics” of Irish Dance, one of the prestigious events with elite dancers from all over the world competing to become the “Champions of the World”.
